Mission-shaped Ministry

A year-long, Worcester/Black Country Mission-Shaped Ministry journey of discovery starts on Saturday 21 September. If you are exploring how to begin/sustain/grow a fresh expression of church; are already involved in a fresh expression of church and want to reflect on what you are doing; or simply feel that church could be so much more than it is, this course may be for you!

People of all denominations, traditions and ages are welcome. Individual participants are welcome, but it is hoped that small groups from a church, team or local area will participate, as this will deepen the impact of the course.

Topics include: Mission context; the mission of God; Vision, values and call; What is church?; Gospel and culture; Starting something new; Listening for mission; Handling opposition and setbacks; Discipleship; Evangelism; Engaging with the community; Spirituality, worship and the sacraments; and Growing to maturity.

The Worcester and Black Country msm will run from September 2019 through to June 2020 on six Wednesday evenings in a choice of locations (Norton, near Worcester, or Cradley Heath), plus three Saturdays and a weekend at the Pioneer Centre at Cleobury Mortimer.

Saturdays (9:30am – 3:30pm): 21st Sept 2019, 14th March and 13th June 2020

Wednesdays (7:30 – 9:30pm): 16th October and 6th November 2019; 15th January, 12th February, 22nd April and 20th May 2020

Weekend away: 6.00pm on Friday 22nd until 4.00pm on Sunday 24th November 2019

The full registration fee for msm is £240 per person, which includes course materials, refreshments, meals and accommodation. For the first 20 delegates to register from churches in the Diocese of Worcester, 1/3 of the cost can be covered from central funds.  Local churches are encouraged to cover a further 1/3.  Similar subsidies are available to delegates from Methodist churches. Other delegates should discuss financial support with their own church. Further financial support may be available if needed.
